Dogs of the World – Denmark’s Darling Pedro

Posted by on January 14, 2013

Welcome Pedro!

Thank you for joining us all the way from Copenhagen, Denmark.

Tell us a little bit about what it is like there?

Denmark is a small (like me) country of 5.5 million people, its basically three islands, so a lot of coastline.

How long have you lived there?

All my life, so that is 11 years.

How long have you lived with your family?

Well, I  was born to a private breeder in a placed called Jutland, I had 6 siblings. I was the most handsomest dog in the litter.

A breeder? Is that safe?

Yes, it was known to be a very good breeder,so that’s why my people went to them.

So they were looking for a specific breed?

Actually, my mum was the one who wanted a dog and then my dad agreed, but he said, only if it was a chihuahua.  And this is long before Paris Hilton made us famous :) I have never been a handbagdog :)

Are you a healthy critter?

Yes! In my 11 years I have (knock on wood) never been seriously ill, like some of my more unfortunate chihua-friends who are bred in bad places by bad people.

Who do you live with?

I live with my Mum, my Dad and 2 small children.

Tell us about Copenhagen.  Is it a dog friendly city?

Yes, very.  Most people love dogs and there are many places to go.

On leash, thanks to www.rescuemecollars.com

Do you have dog parks there?

We have some, but not that many.  Most places dogs have to be on a leash.

Can dogs go in restaurants?

ehm, no….. I can’t think of any.

Can dogs go on public transit?

Yes, if they can fit in a bag….but most places are relaxed, like trains and so.  It’s usually okay, to just have your dog on a leash.

Do people in Copenhagen dress their dogs in clothes?

Yes!  Small dogs HAVE to wear coats, because it gets very cold here.  But the whole dressing up thing for fashion is just not that popular anymore.

Here I am modelling a tasteful black hoodie

Do most people have dogs there?

Yes…we are a nation of doglovers.

What is the climate like?

Mainly cold, even though our summers can be hot too.

What is your favourite local treat to eat?

I’m not sure of a local treat, but since my parents have produced 2 kids, I have started to enjoy eating greens :)

Really? What do you like?

Usually I pinch a carrot or cucumber off the little ones and take it away and eat it.  Before they came along I would only eat meat :)

I do enjoy a stick of pepperoni now and again

What do dogs do for fun there?

Some owners go to the park, some meet up privately for play dates.

What’s your idea of a good time?

I love running around on the beach, that is great fun!

Beach Bum!

Thanks for sharing Pedro!
